New superfast public wifi network for six Westminster markets
Traders and customers across the borough will be able to enjoy the service.
Traders and customers at six street markets in London’s Westminster borough now have access to a new superfast public wi-fi network.
Next generation wireless infrastructure provider Ontix has rolled out the service to those located in Church Street, Berwick Street, Strutton Ground, Tachbrook Street, Maida Hill and Rupert Street.
Due to the ongoing social restrictions imposed by COVID-19, having a fast, reliable internet connection is more important than ever for market traders because it allows them to continue to grow and promote their businesses.
This network includes what’s known as Passpoint Connectivity so you’re able to seamlessly roam between these hotspots without having to log-in each time.
This build was carried out as part of Ontix’s exclusive ten year partnership with Westminster City Council which has seen them introduce next generation wireless services all across the borough.
Last year, Ontix delivered Central London’s first Passpoint Hotspot 2.0 wi-fi network in the iconic Trafalgar Square.
“Westminster City Council wants to provide every possible support for our businesses and local communities across our city,” said Debbie Jackson, Executive Director at Westminster City Council.
“The rollout of this Wi-Fi service is just one of the ways we are providing a digitalised springboard for our cherished street markets.”
