Sky launches Gigafast+: The UK’s fastest home broadband yet

Sky unleashes lightning-fast broadband with new Gigafast+ multi-gig speeds.

Sky Broadband has raised the bar in home connectivity with the launch of Gigafast+, a next-generation broadband service that delivers symmetrical speeds up to 5Gbps, making it the fastest broadband offering from any major UK provider.

Gigafast+ is Sky’s boldest move yet in the fibre market, arriving just as the UK edges closer to full fibre (FTTP) saturation. With over two-thirds of homes expected to be FTTP-ready by early 2026, Sky is positioning itself at the forefront of this shift with a product that combines blistering speed, cutting-edge hardware, and smart network delivery.

Next-gen speed with WiFi 7 technology

At the core of Gigafast+ is Sky’s new Gigafast+ Hub, featuring WiFi 7 – the latest and most powerful Wi-Fi technology on the market. 

Capable of delivering near-instant wireless response times and smoother performance even in device-heavy homes, WiFi 7 offers speeds up to 4.8x faster than WiFi 6, supporting the 6GHz band for low-interference, high-capacity coverage.

This tri-band hub is purpose-built for the ultra-connected household, offering:

• 10Gbps Ethernet Port for next-gen wired speeds – ideal for gamers, developers, and power users.
   
• Sustainable design, crafted from 85% recycled plastics.
   
• Tri-band smart connectivity, giving each device the optimal path for speed and reliability.
   

The hub is exclusively available to Gigafast+ customers and is not sold separately or bundled with slower-tier products.

Powered by the CityFibre network

Sky's new ultrafast tiers – 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps – are powered by a strategic expansion with CityFibre, one of the UK’s leading full-fibre infrastructure providers. CityFibre’s network currently spans over 4 million homes, covering around 15% of the UK, with plans to extend even further.

This partnership enables Sky to compete at the very top end of broadband speeds while improving reliability and coverage beyond Openreach-enabled areas. The rollout will focus initially on key cities such as:

Every Gigafast+ plan includes WiFi Max, Sky’s enhanced in-home Wi-Fi service, at no additional cost. This provides: minimum 25Mbps in every room (WiFi guarantee); 2GB of Sky Mobile data backup during outages; parental controls and network management; engineer support on flexible appointments; and device prioritisation, allowing users to ensure top speed to a primary device.

Gigafast+ is available now in selected CityFibre-enabled locations with the following plans:

Each plan comes with a 24-month contract, the Gigafast+ Hub, and full access to WiFi Max features.

It's important to note that Gigafast+ is not currently available on the Openreach network. Customers must be in a CityFibre-serviced area to access these speeds. Sky advisors will use enhanced tools to confirm availability during sign-up, and customers ineligible for Gigafast+ will still have access to Sky’s robust full-fibre tiers up to 900Mbps.
